A Wellness Practice

"It is the object of a physician to find health. Anyone can find disease."
-- Andrew Taylor Still, MD, DO

At Hands-On Medicine each patient is treated as a unique individual whose healthcare needs and goals are met using an integrative approach that includes functional medicine to widen the scope of treatment possibilities and look beyond just symptom or disease control.

We develop a collaborative relationship with our patients by thoughtfully combining practices from conventional and complementary medicine to bring them to a better state of health and wellness.  Many patients find themselves actually getting healthier as they get older.

In addition to “managing” illness and symptoms, we look for the underlying causes that may predispose or promote an illness state such as:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Chronic pain
  • Chronic sinusitis
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Post concussion syndrome
  • Back, neck and joint pain
  • Sciatica
  • Muscle pain
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Autoimmunity
  • Allergies and asthma
  • Eczema and psoriasis
  • Gastrointestinal disorders including food sensitivities, excess gas, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and reflux (GERD)
  • Osteoporosis and osteopenia
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Obesity
  • Environmental and heavy metal toxicity

Primary care physicians and specialists regularly refer their patients to Hands-On Medicine because of our communicative and inclusive team approach to health care.  Collaborating with the referring practitioner provides better care and expands the treatment options for complex, often chronic conditions that need the best of both conventional and complementary care.

Once the urgent demands of pain and illness have been addressed, the focus of care changes toward promoting optimal health and wellness.
